About the community
La Grange Park is a compact, tree-lined village of roughly 13,400 people in western Cook County, sitting about 13 miles west-southwest of downtown Chicago. Incorporated in 1892, it has kept a quiet, almost entirely residential character across its 2.23 square miles, earning the nickname The LGP and the motto Village of Roses. The village has no Metra station of its own, but the BNSF Line stations in neighboring La Grange put a roughly 25-minute ride to Union Station within easy reach. How La Grange Park got here
Between 1845 and 1860 the land that would become La Grange Park was settled by farming families, including the Diekes, Myers, Robbs, Wesemanns, and Kemmans, who tilled their acreage on what is now the village. After the Chicago Fire of 1871, displaced families arrived along the Burlington rail corridor, liked the area, and stayed, and the original farmers sold off pieces of their land to the newcomers. Much of the credit for forming the village goes to Alphonse H. Kemman, who organized an incorporation effort, and on July 14, 1892, La Grange Park was incorporated with about 300 residents. One of the new village's first official acts was to prohibit liquor sales.
For its first 50 years La Grange Park remained a quiet residential village with only a handful of businesses, no parks, and a single school, and as late as the 1930s many streets still lacked signage. Things began to change around 1943, when the village moved to create a park district, allow light manufacturing along the Indiana Harbor Belt rail right-of-way, expand its police and fire departments, and establish a central shopping area. The village's population settled near 13,000 to 13,500 in the modern era, reaching 13,475 at the 2020 census.

Your local agent
Most agents will list anything. I focus on the communities I actually know, and the details that determine resale value here aren't in the MLS write-up: which lots back to open space, which streets carry the most consistent demand, which floor plans buyers ask for by name, and what each HOA actually covers.
When you're ready to tour or list, you want someone who's walked the streets, talked to the residents, and read the last 50 closed comps in this market specifically. That's how I work. Text or call any time, and I'll give you a real take, not a brochure.
Thinking of selling?
Not a Zestimate. A real CMA from someone who's sold this neighborhood, knows the floor plan premiums, and can tell you which upgrades the buyer pool here actually pays for.
