About the community
Elk Grove Village is a planned community in Cook County, with a small portion in DuPage County, about 22 miles northwest of downtown Chicago and directly adjacent to O'Hare International Airport. It was incorporated in 1956 and built out largely by Centex Corporation, which laid the village out with separate residential and industrial areas from the start. That industrial side grew into the Elk Grove Village Business Park, now the largest consolidated business park in North America, with nearly 3,600 businesses across roughly 5.9 square miles employing close to 100,000 people. The residential side is a stable, mostly mid-century suburb with a 2020 census population of 32,812. The median household income is about 95,216 dollars and the median age is around 43.9. For buyers, the draw is location: jobs next door, O'Hare minutes away, expressway access in every direction, and the 3,558-acre Busse Woods forest preserve on the doorstep.

How Elk Grove Village got here
The land that became Elk Grove Village was ceded to the United States under the 1833 Treaty of Chicago, after which German immigrant farmers settled the area, and many local streets still carry their family names. The village was formally incorporated on July 17, 1956 in Elk Grove Township and was founded as a planned suburban community, with most of its early houses built by the Dallas-based Centex Corporation. Centex chose the site for its proximity to rail, the new air facilities at O'Hare, and major highways, and from the outset the plan separated residential neighborhoods from a dedicated industrial district.
The industrial area planned in the 1950s grew into the Elk Grove Village Business Park, today the largest consolidated business park in North America, with nearly 3,600 businesses on about 5.9 square miles along the western edge of O'Hare employing close to 100,000 people. In 1982 the village drew national attention as the site of one of the first deaths in the Chicago Tylenol murders, a case that reshaped federal tamper-evident packaging rules. The village has continued to add development, including the Elk Grove Technology Park on the former Busse Farm site.

Your local agent
Most agents will list anything. I focus on the communities I actually know, and the details that determine resale value here aren't in the MLS write-up: which lots back to open space, which streets carry the most consistent demand, which floor plans buyers ask for by name, and what each HOA actually covers.
When you're ready to tour or list, you want someone who's walked the streets, talked to the residents, and read the last 50 closed comps in this market specifically. That's how I work. Text or call any time, and I'll give you a real take, not a brochure.
Thinking of selling?
Not a Zestimate. A real CMA from someone who's sold this neighborhood, knows the floor plan premiums, and can tell you which upgrades the buyer pool here actually pays for.
