How Kildeer got here
The area that became Kildeer remained largely rural farmland and undeveloped land into the post-World War II period. Pressed by post-war suburban growth and inspired by longtime resident Dorothea Huszagh, area residents organized a referendum on March 22, 1958 and voted to incorporate the Village of Kildeer with a starting population of 153, making it the 32nd municipality in Lake County. Local attorney-led incorporation drives like this one were common in the late 1950s as Chicago-suburb growth pushed annexation pressure into Ela Township.
Since incorporation, Kildeer has deliberately guided its growth to preserve a rural, natural character. The village comprises 2,625 acres with more than 25 subdivisions of custom homes, where lakes, ponds, streams, woods, wetlands, and natural habitats prevail. In 1996 the village acquired a 5-acre site on Quentin Road south of West Cuba Road, using a federal Land and Water Conservation Fund grant and an Illinois DNR Open Lands Acquisition Grant, and turned it into the Kildeer Nature Center to keep that land in its natural state. Population reached 4,091 at the 2020 Census.

Your local agent
Most agents will list anything. I focus on the communities I actually know, and the details that determine resale value here aren't in the MLS write-up: which lots back to open space, which streets carry the most consistent demand, which floor plans buyers ask for by name, and what each HOA actually covers.
When you're ready to tour or list, you want someone who's walked the streets, talked to the residents, and read the last 50 closed comps in this market specifically. That's how I work. Text or call any time, and I'll give you a real take, not a brochure.
Thinking of selling?
Not a Zestimate. A real CMA from someone who's sold this neighborhood, knows the floor plan premiums, and can tell you which upgrades the buyer pool here actually pays for.
