How West Dundee got here
Settlement of the Dundee area began in 1835, when Scottish-born settlers arrived on the Fox River and named the community after Dundee, Scotland. The river split the town socially as well as physically over the next half-century, and in 1887 the community formally divided into the separate villages of West Dundee and East Dundee, with the river as the line. West Dundee was incorporated as a village in 1887, the same year as East Dundee, and the two have kept distinct municipal identities ever since while sharing schools, fire protection, and the Dundee Township name.
The 19th-century commercial core along Main Street (today Illinois Route 72) survives as one of the better-preserved historic downtowns in the Fox Valley, with a designated historic district covering the buildings around Second Street and Main. Twentieth-century growth pushed the village west toward Randall Road, and the opening of Spring Hill Mall in 1980 on the East Dundee and West Dundee border reoriented retail to the corridor between the river and the interstate. The Randall Road big-box corridor and I-90 access have driven most recent residential growth on the village's west side.

Your local agent
Most agents will list anything. I focus on the communities I actually know, and the details that determine resale value here aren't in the MLS write-up: which lots back to open space, which streets carry the most consistent demand, which floor plans buyers ask for by name, and what each HOA actually covers.
When you're ready to tour or list, you want someone who's walked the streets, talked to the residents, and read the last 50 closed comps in this market specifically. That's how I work. Text or call any time, and I'll give you a real take, not a brochure.
Thinking of selling?
Not a Zestimate. A real CMA from someone who's sold this neighborhood, knows the floor plan premiums, and can tell you which upgrades the buyer pool here actually pays for.
