Campton Hills occupies central Kane County, immediately west of St. Charles and the Fox River. Most of the village falls inside the 60175 ZIP, with parts in 60119, 60124, 60147, 60151, and 60183.
Daily life in Campton Hills leans rural rather than suburban. Properties commonly run an acre or more, horse fences are part of the landscape, and the village adopted a Farming District alongside its residential categories so working farms and equestrian operations can continue. Open space, trail access, and quiet roads are central to the appeal. Residents have direct access to Campton Forest Preserve, with about 7 miles of multi-use trails open to hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders, and to LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve just east in St. Charles, where the Creek Bend Nature Center and the historic Durant House and Pioneer Sholes School share a single property.
Day-to-day errands and dining pull people toward St. Charles and Geneva to the east, but the village has its own anchors. Old Towne Pub & Eatery on Lafox Road in Wasco is the long-running local hangout, and Acquaviva Winery sits just over the village edge on Route 38 with a tasting room, restaurant, and event space. Anderson Humane in nearby South Elgin draws Campton Hills volunteers and adopters, and the Kane County forest preserve system provides the bulk of the area's organized outdoor programming. Commuting is car-first, with an average commute time of about 34 minutes per the ACS.

How Campton Hills got here
Campton Hills is one of the newest municipalities in Kane County. It was officially established on May 14, 2007, after residents of Campton and Plato townships, along with the unincorporated community of Wasco, voted to incorporate roughly 20.3 square miles of countryside. The April 2007 referendum passed with about 55 percent of the vote, driven largely by residents who wanted local zoning control and a buffer against annexation pressure from neighboring municipalities. Patsy Smith served as the village's first president. Several parcels disconnected within the first year using a state statute available during the incorporation window, leaving the village at about 17 square miles today.
The broader Campton area is much older. Campton Township was settled by farmers in the 19th century, and the Campton Town Hall, built in 1874, has been in continuous use since then. The 1872 Pioneer Sholes School and the 1843 Durant House, both later relocated to the nearby LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve in St. Charles, preserve that pioneer heritage. Wasco grew up around the rail line and remains a recognizable settlement inside the village today. The 2007 incorporation was less about creating a town than about giving an already established rural community a formal voice.

Your local agent
Most agents will list anything. I focus on the communities I actually know, and the details that determine resale value here aren't in the MLS write-up: which lots back to open space, which streets carry the most consistent demand, which floor plans buyers ask for by name, and what each HOA actually covers.
When you're ready to tour or list, you want someone who's walked the streets, talked to the residents, and read the last 50 closed comps in this market specifically. That's how I work. Text or call any time, and I'll give you a real take, not a brochure.
Thinking of selling?
Not a Zestimate. A real CMA from someone who's sold this neighborhood, knows the floor plan premiums, and can tell you which upgrades the buyer pool here actually pays for.
