The school
About James B. Conant High School
Conant High School opened in 1964 as the first high school built within Schaumburg Township and the third campus in Township High School District 211. It was named for James Bryant Conant, the chemist and educator whose work on teacher education helped shape the modern American high school. The school serves families on the east side of Schaumburg, the west side of Elk Grove Village, the northern Cook County section of Roselle, and the southeast side of Hoffman Estates.
Conant has a long track record of academic recognition. The U.S. Department of Education named it a Blue Ribbon School in the mid-1990s, and in 2006 the College Board recognized it for having the highest percentage of students passing Advanced Placement exams in the College Board's Midwest Region. In 2018, U.S. News & World Report ranked Conant the highest of any high school in District 211.
Conant fields Cougars teams in the Mid-Suburban League and competes under the Illinois High School Association across a full slate of sports. The school has captured IHSA state championships in girls cross country, boys and girls gymnastics, and cheerleading.
