Wood Dale and neighboring Bensenville sit in northeast DuPage County, and the headline here is access. You are right up against O'Hare International Airport, so whether you fly for work or just want a quick gateway to the rest of the country, it is all close at hand. The Metra Milwaukee District West line runs through both towns, giving you a one-seat ride into downtown Chicago without ever touching the expressway, and when you do want to drive you have I-290, I-355, and Route 83 all within easy reach.
The housing here leans practical and welcoming: solid mid-century ranches and split-levels, postwar Cape Cods, plenty of well-kept single-family blocks, and pockets of newer construction and townhomes mixed in. Lots tend to be generous for the price, and the area has long appealed to buyers who want suburban space and a real neighborhood feel while staying tied into the airport corridor and the rail line.
The vibe is unpretentious and community-minded. Both towns share Fenton Community High School District 100, so families across Wood Dale and Bensenville send their kids to the same Bison campus, which gives the area a connected, small-town quality even with the big-city conveniences right next door.

The school
Public high school education in Bensenville started as a two-year, then three-year program from 1917 to 1924. In 1925, Community High School District 100 was founded with a four-year program serving both Bensenville and Wood Dale, and in 1927 Bensenville Community High School was built. By 1951 enrollment had outgrown that building, and a referendum allowed the board to build a new one. The new school opened in September 1955 and was named Fenton Community High School after Frederick C. Fenton, the district's first superintendent.
Fenton awards credit on a semester basis and requires 45 semester credits to graduate, including a community service requirement. The school offers a broad slate of Advanced Placement courses spanning the arts, world languages, computer science, math, the sciences, and the social studies. For the 2025-26 school year the campus added a new STEM wing with ten science labs and two computer science labs.
Fenton competes in the Upstate Eight Conference and is a member of the Illinois High School Association. The Bison field a full slate of boys' and girls' teams and also sponsor a competitive dance team known as Dance Force. The girls' bowling program is the school's most decorated, with multiple IHSA state titles.

Not a Zestimate. A real CMA from someone who's sold this neighborhood, knows the floor plan premiums, and can tell you which upgrades the buyer pool here actually pays for.
