@huntleyareachamberLiving near Batavia HS
Batavia is one of those Fox River towns that feels like a secret until you live here. The river runs right through the heart of it, and the Batavia Riverwalk is the centerpiece: a genuinely lovely stretch of paths, bridges, gardens, and overlooks that draws people out year-round for the farmers market, summer concerts, and just an evening stroll. Downtown sits a few steps up from the water, with locally owned restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques in restored historic storefronts, plus the windmills that nod to Batavia's old manufacturing past.
Housing here has real character. You will find handsome historic homes near the river and the old limestone districts, comfortable mid-century neighborhoods, and newer subdivisions on the edges of town, so there is something for first-time buyers and move-up families alike. The Fox River Trail makes it easy to bike or walk for miles, and parks and open space are never far.
For commuters, Batavia keeps you close to the action without putting you in the middle of it. The town itself does not have its own Metra stop, but the Geneva station just to the north and the Aurora Transportation Center to the south both run trains into downtown Chicago, so a one-seat ride to the Loop is a short drive away.

The school
Batavia High School traces its roots to May 1911, when West Batavia High School and East Batavia High School merged into a single institution serving the Fox River community of Batavia. Now part of Batavia Public School District 101, the school has grown into a full four-year campus on Main Street. Beginning in 2009, the school added a new classroom wing, a music wing, a fieldhouse, new athletic facilities, and the Batavia Fine Arts Centre auditorium, completed in 2011 as part of a roughly $70 million renovation.
Batavia High School posts a graduation rate of about 94 percent, with an average graduating class of roughly 400 students. The school offers 16 Advanced Placement courses, and a large share of students gain post-secondary experience before graduating through AP and dual-credit classes, courses at the Fox Valley Career Center, and a Waubonsee Community College manufacturing program.
Batavia competes in the DuKane Conference as the Bulldogs, with a storied football program and one of the oldest rivalries in the state against neighboring Geneva. The football team won IHSA state championships in 2013 (Class 6A) and 2017 (Class 7A), and the boys basketball program claimed a state title in 1912. Batavia has also produced standout individual state champions in wrestling in recent years.
