Naperville is the kind of town people move to and never leave, and the north side puts you right in the middle of what makes it special. You are minutes from a downtown that actually feels alive: independent shops, sidewalk cafes, the public library, and the Riverwalk, a 1.75 mile stretch of brick paths, fountains, and covered bridges that follows the West Branch of the DuPage River through the heart of town. Families spend whole weekends down there, and it never gets old.
For anyone working in the city, the location is hard to beat. The Metra BNSF line runs out of the Naperville station, and an express train gets you into Chicago Union Station in roughly 50 to 55 minutes, which is why so many downtown professionals plant their families here and still keep a city career. Add North Central College, a private liberal arts college right in the downtown core, and you get a walkable, year-round energy of concerts, theater, and college sports that most suburbs do not have.
The housing on the north side runs the full range, from established tree-lined streets with classic brick and frame homes near downtown to newer construction farther out, so there is a fit for first-time buyers, growing families, and folks looking to right-size and stay close to everything. What ties it all together is the reputation for top-tier schools, safe neighborhoods, and a real sense of community.

The school
Naperville North High School opened in 1970 as the second public high school in Naperville Community Unit School District 203. For its first four years the building served freshmen only, who then finished their education at Naperville Central. The original building grew through additions in 1974, 1986, and 1992, and for years it was the only school in the district with a swimming pool. The campus has been steadily modernized since, including the 2015 to 2016 conversion of the library into a Learning Commons. In 2018 the U.S. Department of Education named Naperville North a National Blue Ribbon School.
Naperville North is a National Blue Ribbon School (2018) and a consistent statewide academic standout. In 2024 it graduated about 96 percent of its students within four years, and it is regularly ranked among the top public high schools in Illinois. The school is also known for strong academic teams, including a Math Team with a long run of conference and state success.
The Huskies compete in the DuPage Valley Conference and the IHSA. The program is best known for a girls cross country dynasty that has captured ten state championships, among the most of any program in Illinois, and it has also won state titles in boys soccer and other sports.

Not a Zestimate. A real CMA from someone who's sold this neighborhood, knows the floor plan premiums, and can tell you which upgrades the buyer pool here actually pays for.
