Huntley sits at the southeast corner of McHenry County where it spills over into Kane, right on the I-90 Golden Corridor with a full interchange at Route 47. That access is the story of the town's last twenty years: warehouses and retail grew up along 47, and the road itself was widened to five and six lanes to keep up. For all that growth the village still keeps a real downtown Town Square with shops and restaurants, and it still calls itself the Friendly Village with Country Charm.
What makes Huntley different from the rest of the county is Sun City. Del Webb's large active-adult community on the south side (Del Webb Boulevard is its spine) is big enough to pull the village's median age up near 49, so you get an unusual mix: retirees who came for Sun City living right next to younger families filling in the newer subdivisions closer to the school. Median household income runs in the high $70s. From the Harmony Road campus you are minutes from the 47 corridor, a straight shot east on Algonquin Road to Lake in the Hills and Algonquin, and west on Main toward Marengo and Hampshire. One note for commuters: Huntley has no Metra stop, so the I-90 interchange is the way into the city.

The school
Huntley High School's current building on Harmony Road opened in 1997 as Consolidated School District 158's first new building in roughly thirty years. It was originally laid out as a combined middle-high school, with a shared cafeteria and library at the center, then expanded as the area boomed: a classroom wing in 1999, major east and west additions in 2002 that added a larger gym and a 700-seat performing arts center, and a 2005 reallocation to high-school-only use once the district's new middle schools opened. The teams were the Huntley Redskins until 2002, when the district retired that name and adopted the Red Raiders.
Huntley is the single comprehensive high school for all of District 158, with an attendance area that covers Huntley plus parts of Lake in the Hills, Algonquin, and the surrounding rural areas. Serving roughly 2,800 students in grades 9-12, it has historically tested above Illinois state averages on state assessments.
Huntley moved up from the small-school Big Northern Conference to the larger suburban Fox Valley Conference in 2002 as its enrollment crossed 1,000. The Red Raiders' biggest moment came in 2019, when the softball team beat St. Charles East for the IHSA Class 4A state title, the first state championship in school history. The girls track and field team added a Class 3A state team title in 2023, and the school's journalism program won back-to-back IHSA state championships in 2021 and 2022.

Not a Zestimate. A real CMA from someone who's sold this neighborhood, knows the floor plan premiums, and can tell you which upgrades the buyer pool here actually pays for.
