The area, not just the school
Living around Plainfield East puts you in one of the most family-friendly corners of the southwest suburbs. This side of Plainfield grew up during the building boom of the 1990s and 2000s, so the neighborhoods here are largely newer subdivisions with two-car garages, sidewalks, parks, and the kind of cul-de-sacs where kids ride bikes until the streetlights come on. Plainfield itself is the oldest community in Will County, settled along the DuPage River back in the 1820s, and that history shows up in a charming downtown along Lockport Street with local shops, restaurants, Settlers' Park, and summer concerts.
Day to day, the Route 59 corridor handles most of your errands, with grocery stores and big-box shopping clustered close by, while the DuPage River and forest preserves like Lake Renwick give you green space and trails minutes from home. For commuters, Interstate 55 runs along the east edge of the village with two exits, putting downtown Chicago roughly 34 miles up the road, and Metra's Heritage Corridor line out of nearby Joliet plus Pace express buses add rail and bus options. You get more house and more yard than you would closer in, without giving up access to Naperville and Joliet next door.

About Plainfield East High School
Plainfield East opened for the 2008-09 school year on August 21, 2008, becoming the fourth high school in Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202. The school phased in its grade levels, beginning with only freshmen and sophomores in its first year and adding a grade each year, so that by 2010-11 it operated with all four grades for the first time. It sits on the east side of Plainfield, a southwest suburb of Chicago in Will County. The Bengals compete in the Southwest Prairie Conference and are a member of the Illinois High School Association.
Plainfield East fields a full slate of IHSA sports and competes in the Southwest Prairie Conference. The signature moment in school history came in June 2021, when the baseball team won the IHSA Class 4A state championship, the first state trophy in any sport for the school. Entering the postseason below .500 as a number 13 seed, the Bengals made an improbable run and beat Lake Park 6 to 5 in the title game in Joliet.
