@otheplaceswegoLiving near Argo HS
Living in the southwest Cook County corridor around Argo means you are close to everything Chicago offers while still keeping a quiet, neighborly pace. Summit, Hickory Hills, Bridgeview, and Justice sit shoulder to shoulder just a few miles from Midway Airport and roughly twenty minutes from the Loop on a good day. Commuters here have it easy: I-55 and historic Archer Avenue both cut straight toward downtown, the Tri-State Tollway runs along the eastern edge of Hickory Hills, and the Metra Heritage Corridor line gives a rail option into Union Station.
The housing character is honest and approachable. You will find a lot of solid postwar bungalows, brick Georgians, and tidy ranches, many built in the boom of the 1950s and 1960s when these towns filled in. Lots are generous by city standards, prices stay grounded, and these are homes built to last, which makes the area a strong fit for first-time buyers, growing families, and anyone who wants more space for the money than the closer-in neighborhoods allow. The communities carry a rich mix of heritage, with strong Polish, Lithuanian, Arab, Irish, and German roots that show up in the local bakeries, parishes, and restaurants.
For outdoor life, the location is hard to beat. Hickory Hills is bounded on the west by the sprawling Palos Forest Preserves, one of the largest natural areas in Cook County, and the Des Plaines River corridor threads green space, trails, and forest preserve land along the western and southern edges of these towns. Weekends here can mean a morning on a wooded trail and an afternoon back home, all without a long drive.

The school
Argo Community High School opened in 1920 and has served the southwest Cook County corridor for more than a century, drawing students from Summit, Bedford Park, Bridgeview, Justice, Willow Springs, and a portion of Hickory Hills. The school takes its name from the area around the large corn processing plant nearby, which manufactured Argo brand corn starch and is now owned by Ingredion. In 2014 and 2016 the school earned a bronze medal from U.S. News and World Report for academic performance, the only school in the South Suburban Conference recognized in those years.
Argo Community High School reports a graduation rate of roughly 89 percent, slightly above the Illinois statewide average. The school offers Advanced Placement coursework and a range of academic programs tracked on the state report card, and its bronze-medal recognition from U.S. News and World Report in 2014 and 2016 reflected strong performance relative to its conference peers.
Argo competes in the South Suburban Conference and in IHSA state series as the Argonauts, with school colors of maroon and white. The Argonauts field interscholastic teams across basketball, bowling, cross country, golf, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, volleyball, water polo, wrestling, baseball, football, badminton, and softball.

Not a Zestimate. A real CMA from someone who's sold this neighborhood, knows the floor plan premiums, and can tell you which upgrades the buyer pool here actually pays for.
