Living near Wells HS
Living around Wells puts you right in the heart of West Town and Noble Square, one of the most walkable and characterful corners of Chicago's Near Northwest Side. This is classic close-in city living. The streets are lined with vintage workers' cottages, brick two-flats and three-flats, and converted condo buildings, with newer construction filling in here and there as the neighborhood has steadily gentrified over the last two decades. Eckhart Park, the green square at Chicago and Noble that gave Noble Square its name, anchors the area and gives families a place to land.
Getting downtown is easy, which is a big part of the draw. The CTA Blue Line runs right through, with the Division and Chicago Avenue stations putting you a quick ride from the Loop, and the Kennedy Expressway sits just to the east for anyone driving. You are also within reach of the Damen stop and the Milwaukee Avenue corridor, the spine that connects this area up toward Wicker Park and Bucktown.
The dining and nightlife are a real selling point. Division Street, Chicago Avenue, and Milwaukee Avenue give you a deep bench of restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops, with the East Village and Wicker Park edges adding even more just a short stroll away. Buyers here are trading a little more square footage for location, walkability, and that connected-to-everything feeling, and for a lot of people that is exactly the trade they want.

The school
Wells Community Academy High School is a public four-year high school in the West Town neighborhood on the Near Northwest Side of Chicago, part of Chicago Public Schools, and is named for William H. Wells, a former superintendent of Chicago Public Schools. The current building opened in 1935 on the site of the original school. Its enrollment was predominantly white from its opening until the late 1960s, and by the 1970s much of its population was low-income, with many students living in the nearby Cabrini-Green public housing.
Wells offers two Career and Technical Education programs: a Law and Public Safety Academy and a Fine Arts Academy. The Law Academy has operated since 2003, and its students have been recognized across the district in mock trial competitions. The school expanded its Fine Arts programming under its 2019 improvement plan, with offerings in music, visual art, drama, and dance.
Wells competes as the Raiders in the Chicago Public League and is a member of the IHSA. The boys' basketball team won the Public League championship in 1936-37 and were conference champions in 2022-23, when coach Michael Horton was named IHSA Coach of the Year. The boys' soccer team were regional champions in 2008-09 and the girls' soccer team were regional champions in 2011-12.

Not a Zestimate. A real CMA from someone who's sold this neighborhood, knows the floor plan premiums, and can tell you which upgrades the buyer pool here actually pays for.
