Westmont is one of those DuPage County villages that quietly has it all, an easy 18 miles west of the Loop with a real downtown, mature tree-lined neighborhoods, and a price point that still leaves room for families and first-time buyers. The heart of town is walkable Cass Avenue, anchored by the revitalized central business district and the newer transit-oriented Quincy Station development, with the historic William L. Gregg House museum and James M. Long Park giving the village its small-town character.
Commuters love it here. The Westmont Metra station sits on the BNSF Line with frequent daily service straight into Chicago Union Station, and drivers are boxed in by convenience with Ogden Avenue through town and I-88, I-55, I-294, and I-355 all within a short reach. That combination of rail plus expressways is a big part of why Westmont holds its value.
Housing runs the full range, from vintage bungalows and post-war ranches near the tracks to larger updated homes on generous lots as you move toward Oak Brook, Clarendon Hills, and Downers Grove, the villages that border Westmont on every side. Buyers who want a genuine downtown, a quick train ride, and a smaller, close-knit school community tend to fall for Westmont fast.

Westmont High was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 2021-2022.

The school
Westmont High School was created in 1972 as part of the newly formed Community Unit School District 201 and first opened for classes in September 1974, with the current building opening in October 1976. The teams are the Sentinels, a nod to the fact that Westmont sits on some of the highest ground in the Chicago area, exactly where a lookout would stand. The school wears burgundy and gold, and though its building and enrollment are far smaller than neighboring giants like Downers Grove North and Hinsdale Central, Westmont has punched well above its size, earning National Blue Ribbon recognition in 2021-2022.
Westmont offers a deep Advanced Placement roster of more than twenty courses spanning calculus, statistics, the sciences, history, government, economics, psychology, English, and computer science, with more than 600 AP exams taken in spring 2024. The school offers dual credit through a partnership with the College of DuPage plus career-prep programs through the Technology Center of DuPage. The Class of 2024 posted a graduation rate above 97 percent with roughly 93 percent of graduates college bound, and the school was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 2021-2022.
Westmont competes in the Illinois High School Association as the Sentinels in burgundy and gold, fielding a full slate of small-school programs including football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, and softball. As a smaller-enrollment school the Sentinels have been regularly competitive in postseason play, with multiple recent IHSA regional titles. Beyond athletics, Westmont's scholastic bowl team won both the NAQT Traditional Public Small School and Very Small School national championships in 2021.

Not a Zestimate. A real CMA from someone who's sold this neighborhood, knows the floor plan premiums, and can tell you which upgrades the buyer pool here actually pays for.
