The area, not just the school
Tinley Park sits about 30 miles southwest of downtown Chicago in Cook and Will counties, and it has the feel of a place people put down roots in. The village grew up along the Rock Island railroad, and that history still shapes daily life: two Metra stations on the Rock Island District line, the Oak Park Avenue station downtown and the 80th Avenue station to the west, give commuters a straight shot into the Loop without ever touching the expressway.
For drivers, I-80 runs along the south edge of the village as the main east-west route, with Harlem Avenue, La Grange Road, and 159th Street handling the rest. The restored historic downtown around the Oak Park Avenue station anchors the community, and the Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre has drawn big-name concerts to town since 1990. Housing here leans toward well-kept single-family homes on established blocks, with newer construction spread west and south where most of the growth happened from the 1970s onward.
The vibe is steady and family-oriented. Buyers who want suburban space, a real downtown with some character, and an easy rail commute into the city tend to find a lot to like in Tinley Park.

- What high school district serves Tinley Park?
- Tinley Park High School is part of Bremen Community High School District 228, which also runs Bremen, Oak Forest, and Hillcrest high schools. - Which towns feed into Tinley Park High School?
- Students come from sections of Tinley Park, Oak Forest, Markham, and Country Club Hills. Because the boundaries cut through parts of these villages, two homes on the same street can sometimes land in different schools, so it pays to verify.

- It is a mid-sized school. Enrollment was 1,042 students across grades 9 through 12 in 2024-25, with a student-to-teacher ratio of roughly 18 to 1.
- What is the commute into Chicago like from this area?
- Pretty convenient for a south suburb. Tinley Park has two Metra stations on the Rock Island District line, Oak Park Avenue downtown and 80th Avenue to the west, both running into the Loop. Drivers get I-80 along the village's south edge plus Harlem Avenue and La Grange Road.
- What are the school's sports and colors?
- The Titans wear scarlet and gold and compete in the South Suburban Conference. They hold an IHSA football state title from the 1986-87 season and back-to-back cheerleading state championships in 2006-07 and 2007-08. Oak Forest is the longtime rival.

What's your home actually worth?
Not a Zestimate. A real CMA from someone who's sold this neighborhood, knows the floor plan premiums, and can tell you which upgrades the buyer pool here actually pays for.
