The Round Lake communities sit in the heart of central Lake County, about 55 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, in the middle of the region's chain of lakes country. This is one of the more attainable corners of Lake County, a cluster of connected villages, Round Lake, Round Lake Beach, Round Lake Park, and neighboring Hainesville, with Grayslake just to the east, where families come for more house and yard than they would find closer to the city. The lakes themselves give the area its name and its character, and parks, forest preserves, and open water are never far from any front door.
Getting to the city is straightforward. The Round Lake Metra station puts commuter rail right in town on the Milwaukee District North line, with trains running toward Chicago Union Station and out toward Fox Lake. For drivers, Rollins Road, Route 83, and Route 120 form the local grid that ties the Round Lake villages together and connects them to the wider Lake County road network. Pace bus service links the area to Grayslake, Fox Lake, and beyond.
Housing is the draw. The Round Lake area leans toward affordable starter homes and newer subdivisions that filled in during the area's rapid growth, which makes it a natural landing spot for first-time buyers, growing families, and anyone who wants a single-family home with a yard at a Lake County price point. Buyers will find everything from established lakeside neighborhoods to newer master-planned streets, all feeding into Round Lake Area Schools District 116.

Not a Zestimate. A real CMA from someone who's sold this neighborhood, knows the floor plan premiums, and can tell you which upgrades the buyer pool here actually pays for.
