@chicagoland_explorerLiving near Addison Trail HS
Living around Addison Trail puts you in one of DuPage County's most practical, well-connected suburbs. The school sits just off Army Trail and Lombard Roads, about a half mile from Interstate 355, so you are minutes from I-290, the I-88 corridor, and a quick run over to O'Hare. That access is a big part of Addison's character. It grew up in the 1960s and 1970s as farmland gave way to homes, and today it blends solid postwar ranch-style houses with newer construction, plus a healthy stock of townhomes and condos that make it friendly to first-time buyers. The village sits along Salt Creek, with the well-regarded Addison Public Library, neighborhood parks, and the Addison Center for the Arts close at hand.
The vibe here is community-minded and diverse, a village of about 35,000 where the downtown and retail corridors are seeing steady reinvestment. Day to day you are close to big-box shopping, the Stratford Square area in neighboring Bloomingdale, and an easy reach into Lombard, Villa Park, and Elmhurst for dining. Commuters lean on Metra service in nearby towns for the ride into downtown Chicago, while Pace bus routes connect Addison west toward Wheaton. For buyers who want affordability, strong highway access, and a settled suburban feel without the price tag of the farther-west towns, the area around Addison Trail consistently delivers.

The school
Addison Trail High School opened on September 1, 1966 as the third high school in DuPage High School District 88, built to relieve rapid enrollment growth at the district's existing campuses. A major addition followed in 1976 as the student body kept climbing, and in 2008 the school broke ground on a roughly $115 million renovation that added a three-story classroom wing, a student commons, and a field house, all completed in 2010. That same year the Village of Addison acquired the former Driscoll High School site for Addison Trail's athletic fields, naming it Blazer Park.
Addison Trail posted a four-year graduation rate of 88% in 2024, with a five-year rate of 90.2%, slightly above the Illinois state average. The school reports an average class size of about 16.6 students and a student-to-teacher ratio near 16 to 1. Detailed state metrics, including assessment proficiency and college-readiness indicators, are published on the Illinois Report Card.
The Blazers compete in the West Suburban Conference as a member of the Illinois High School Association, fielding a full slate of boys and girls programs with a long history of competitive gymnastics and wrestling teams.
