@tablefoodcoLiving near Bloom Trail HS
Sauk Village is a small south-suburban community in Cook County, tucked against the Indiana state line at the southern edge of the Chicago metro. Much of its residential fabric took shape after the Calumet Expressway opened in the late 1950s, when builders filled in the Garden Section neighborhood south of Sauk Trail, and later waves like the Carolina Subdivision rounded out the community you see today. The appeal here is space and affordability: modest single-family homes on real lots, quiet residential streets, and a straightforward working-community feel rather than a polished downtown.
Getting around leans on the highway network. The Bishop Ford Freeway (I-94) is the main artery north toward Chicago, and I-394 runs just to the east toward the Indiana line and the I-80 and I-94 corridor, putting northwest Indiana, Lansing, and the larger job centers of the south suburbs within an easy drive. Sauk Trail is the key east-west local road through town. Homes here trade at price points well below the Chicago average, which makes the area a favorite for first-time buyers and anyone who wants more house for the money.

The school
Bloom Trail traces its start to 1964, when it operated as the Bloom Township Freshman-Sophomore Division serving the underclassmen of the growing Bloom Township school system south of Chicago. In 1976, to relieve overcrowding at the original Bloom High School in Chicago Heights, the division was expanded into a full four-year high school and renamed Bloom Trail. Since 1995 the two schools have run a cooperative athletic program, competing together as the Bloom Township Blazing Trojans. Today Bloom Trail serves grades 9 through 12 and draws students from Steger, Sauk Village, Crete, South Chicago Heights, Ford Heights, a portion of Chicago Heights, and parts of Lynwood.
Athletics at Bloom Trail run through a cooperative program shared with Bloom High School since 1995, competing as the Bloom Township Blazing Trojans. The combined program plays in the Southland Athletic Conference under the IHSA, with football, volleyball, basketball, and track among the sports hosted at the Bloom Trail campus.
