Midlothian sits in the heart of Chicago's south suburbs in Bremen Township, Cook County, a compact village of roughly 14,300 people. Life here is unpretentious and neighborly. Downtown runs along 147th Street, where a walkable stretch of shops and local storefronts meets the daily rhythm of the commuter rail, and families take advantage of nearby green space including the Midlothian Meadows Forest Preserve in the Cook County system.
Commuting is one of the area's biggest draws. The Midlothian station on Metra's Rock Island District line sits at 147th Street, running trains north to LaSalle Street Station in downtown Chicago, about 18 miles up the line, and south toward Joliet. Pace buses connect the village across the Southland, and the community sits close to both the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) and I-57, so drivers reach the city and the interstates without a long slog.
The housing here is a big part of the appeal for first-time and value-focused buyers. Midlothian is overwhelmingly a homeowner village of modest single-family houses on quiet residential streets, with an approachable, working-family feel. Between the train, the expressways, the forest preserves, and the price point, it offers an easy on-ramp to Chicago-area living.

The school
Bremen High School opened in September 1953 as the first school built for the newly created Bremen Community High School District 228, taking its name from Bremen Township in Cook County. Before it opened, local students traveled to Thornton Township, Bloom Township, Blue Island, and Joliet Township high schools. The building was dedicated that November, with U.S. Senator Everett Dirksen serving as the main speaker. In its first year the school opened with 37 teachers and administrators and 732 students. Bremen mainly serves Midlothian, Posen, Markham, and a small part of Harvey, and it was later joined in the district by Tinley Park, Hillcrest, and Oak Forest high schools.
Bremen competes in the South Suburban Conference as a member of the Illinois High School Association. The school fields teams across baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and wrestling, and hosts the district water polo team. It also sponsors a pom team.

Thinking of selling?
Not a Zestimate. A real CMA from someone who's sold this neighborhood, knows the floor plan premiums, and can tell you which upgrades the buyer pool here actually pays for.
