Forest Park lives up to its reputation for big-city access with small-town charm. The heart of the village is Madison Street, a walkable stretch of boutiques, antique shops, and some of the most praised restaurants and taverns in the western suburbs. Around it sits a tight, friendly grid of brick bungalows and classic two-flats that give the town its neighborly feel.
Commuting is one of Forest Park's biggest draws. The village is home to the western terminus of the CTA Blue Line at the Forest Park terminal on Des Plaines Avenue, putting a one-seat ride to downtown Chicago and O'Hare within reach, plus a second Blue Line stop at Harlem. Drivers sit right on the Eisenhower Expressway, I-290, and Pace buses fill in local trips. The town is also known for its wide-open green space, with large historic cemeteries ringing its western edge that keep sightlines open and traffic calm, and a Park District aquatic center that anchors summer. It all adds up to a rooted, walkable suburb minutes from the city.

The school
Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy opened in 2005, welcoming 126 freshmen as one of the newest schools in Proviso Township High Schools District 209. Built as a selective-enrollment academy, it draws students from across the district's western Cook County communities, including Forest Park, Maywood, Melrose Park, Bellwood, Broadview, Berkeley, Hillside, Stone Park, and Westchester. Much of the building's fifth floor houses the District 209 central administration offices.
PMSA admits students through an application process that weighs test scores, grades, and teacher recommendations, and its curriculum is modeled in part on the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, focusing on science, math, technology, arts, and foreign languages. Freshmen take a Physics First sequence, studying physics before chemistry and biology. The school was named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2018 and has ranked among the top public high schools in Illinois by U.S. News and World Report.
PMSA does not field its own varsity teams and has no athletic facilities on campus. Students who want to compete play for their District 209 home school, either Proviso East or Proviso West, in sports such as baseball, basketball, football, track and field, softball, and volleyball.

Thinking of selling?
Not a Zestimate. A real CMA from someone who's sold this neighborhood, knows the floor plan premiums, and can tell you which upgrades the buyer pool here actually pays for.
