West Ridge, still known to many longtime residents as West Rogers Park, is one of the most genuinely international corners of Chicago. It is home to a large Jewish community alongside thriving Indian, Pakistani, Assyrian, Korean, and Russian communities, and that mix shows up everywhere from the spice markets to the bakeries along Devon Avenue. It is a place where you can eat your way around the world in a ten-minute walk and still be home in time for dinner.
The housing here has real character and staying power. West Ridge holds two designated bungalow historic districts that together preserve hundreds of the sturdy 1920s brick Chicago bungalows the neighborhood is known for, plus classic two-flats and condo options. Buyers tend to be drawn by solid brick construction, generous lots for the city, and a settled residential feel. Warren Park anchors the east side of the neighborhood with green space, and getting downtown is easy with CTA and Pace buses plus Metra service at the Peterson/Ridge station.

🏫Mather Rangers
A Chicago Public Schools neighborhood high school opened in 1959, motto Celebrating Diversity.
The school
Stephen Tyng Mather High School opened in 1959 as a neighborhood high school on Chicago's Far North Side, operated by Chicago Public Schools. It is named for Stephen Mather, the industrialist and conservationist who became the first director of the National Park Service. Mather has long served one of the most ethnically diverse student bodies in the city, with a majority of students speaking a language other than English at home.
Mather is a neighborhood high school with a college-preparatory emphasis, and its bilingual and English as a Second Language program is central to the curriculum. The school offers Advanced Placement courses across subjects including English, U.S. History, U.S. Government, World History, Calculus, Chemistry, Biology, Statistics, Psychology, Physics, Spanish, and Studio Art.
Mather competes as the Rangers in the Chicago Public League and is a member of the Illinois High School Association. The boys soccer program won the IHSA Class 2A state championship in 2011.
