Living near Collins Academy
Collins Academy sits in North Lawndale, one of Chicago's most storied West Side neighborhoods and home to the city's densest run of classic greystones, many still wearing their original cornices and stonework along quiet, tree-lined blocks. Green space anchors daily life here. Douglass Park, with its historic field house, pool, and sports fields, is minutes away, and the year-round Farm on Ogden market sits nearby.
Getting around is easy. Several CTA Pink Line stops (Kedzie, Central Park, Pulaski, and Kostner) plus bus routes and quick access to the Eisenhower Expressway put downtown within a short ride. Housing leans historic, single-family greystones and classic two-flats, with many single-family homes trading in a roughly $150,000 to $315,000 range. That makes North Lawndale one of the more accessible entry points this close to the heart of the city.

The school
Collins Academy carries a name rooted in North Lawndale civic history. The current school opened in the fall of 2007 with a single freshman class and added one grade a year until it graduated its first class in 2011. For the 2025-26 school year the academy moved into its own building for the first time in years, adding renovated science labs, a medical lab, a cosmetology lab, art rooms, and a maker's space.
Collins Academy is a STEAM school, built around science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, with a medical lab, a cosmetology lab, refurbished science labs, and a maker's space. Through partnerships with City Colleges of Chicago and the University of Illinois at Chicago, students can earn college credit while still in high school.

Thinking of selling?
Not a Zestimate. A real CMA from someone who's sold this neighborhood, knows the floor plan premiums, and can tell you which upgrades the buyer pool here actually pays for.
